Using cell phone and calling card in Europe??????

If I bring my Canadian cell phone (which works in other countries) to Europe, can I use a calling card to call Canada so i don’t have to pay the ridiculous “roaming” fees of lyk 2.00 a minute??? or would calling cards and cell phones only work if I was in Canada trying to call europe??? CONFUSED
thx

If I purchase a prepaid phone card to call from Europe, can I still use the sim card from T-mobile?

I’m going to purchase this prepaid phone card: http://www.zaptel.com/zaptel/index.cfm?fuseaction=customer.product&product_code=ABSOLUTEWORLDCARD&from_country_id=208&from_country=Italy&to_country=USA%20-%2048%20States&to_country_id=1&conversation=5&MinuteRate=0.135&connect_fee=0&Denoms=-25

Do I need to get a sim card also? Will T-mobile charge me for calling from Europe? Or should I just use the hotel telephones?

Thanks!

To call the USA from Europe, where is it better to get the phone card?

I’m going to be traveling Europe for a month and a half without a cell phone. So, I want to get a phone card to call my family in the USA. Where would I get the best deals on a phone card?
Also, what brands? And where can I find them? (specifically in Madrid, Spain or Rome, Italy)
Thanks for your help!

Trying to find the cheapest way to stay in contact with family while in the Netherlands and Belguim assisting my Father. Two people in the US only have a cell phone and worried they will have additional charges. My current cell phone is Verizon Wireless and it does not look it will work. Calling cards? Buy or rent sell phone in Europe? Any suggestions Please!

SIM Phone card or Prepaid Phone card for Europe?

Hi! I live in US and this summer will be traveling through Europe. I want stay in touch with my family but don’t want to end up with a high cell phone bill. Does SIM phone card work exactly the same as prepaid phone cards? The only thing I know is that with prepaid phone cards, I would have to dial country code+destination number and other codes, which can get frustrating when dialing so many numbers. How does SIM work? Which one is easier? Any companies that you would recommend. Please let me know,
Thank you
Yes, I will be traveling through UK, France, Switzerland, Itally, Germany. That is a really good idea to just send text messages home to US, but will I still need a new European SIM phone card to do that? (i dont think that US SIM card will work over there
